Safeguarding

At Bickerstaffe Primary School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Every child has a right to be cared for and protected. Protecting children is everyone's responsibility.  The governing body has a duty of care to all pupils and members of the school community. We ensure that there are consistent and effective safeguarding policies and procedures in place to support children, families and staff at school. We are committed at Bickerstaffe to provide a safe and supportive environment in which children feel nurtured and they can develop and grow into a responsible adult.

As a school our aim is to work together to safeguard children by:

  • protecting children from maltreatment
  • preventing impairment of children's health and development
  • ensuring children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to ensure all children have the best outcomes.

The best interests of the children will always be our priority. At times we will need to record, monitor and share information with other agencies. We will share concerns about our pupils with the child's parents/carers unless we have reason to believe that such a move wouldn't be in the child's best interest.
